Stanley Black & Decker (Chesterfield, MI) – Master Scheduler

Position Summary

The Master Schedular will be a high potential talent in the organization who can make a significant difference taking the company to the next level of supply chain and operational excellence. The person will have overall responsibility for master production plans for NA businesses working closely with Manufacturing plants, Sourcing teams and the Business S&OP and Supply Chain Leaders. The person will report to the Director of Supply Chain for NA with strong dotted line responsibility to the Business S&OP Leaders.

The Stanley Engineered Fastening business continues to experience strong growth and operates in a high SKU and complex supply chain environment. As such the Master Scheduler will require outstanding analytical skills to be able to analyze and present data to enable meaningful decision making. Effective utilization of both Materials Requirements Planning and Capacity Resource Planning, as well as exceptional inventory management skills, are all a must.  

This individual must be able to work in a timely manner independently as well as within a matrix organization to support Sales & Operations Planning. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Create, review and revise master production plans to support forecasted demand within inventory investment guidelines through forecast analysis and production capacity analysis.
  • Conduct rough cut capacity and scenario planning to be able to validate and present data and analytics to facilitate decision making.
  • Develop, monitor and revise production plans, in the short and long term, to optimize the use of manpower, equipment and financial resources while meeting the needs of customers.
  • Prepare data and material for S&OP Supply Meetings that will facilitate decisions around equipment, labor and all other resources needed to support demand over the S&OP planning horizon.
  • Achieve customer service order fulfillment objectives while maintaining inventory levels at targeted goals. Develop support metrics, tools and reporting that will enable Manufacturing plants and Sourcing teams to achieve these service level and inventory targets.
  • Support the successful launch of new products, product transitions and implementation of supply chain and lead-time reduction initiatives as required.
  • Evaluate inventory investment reports to identify slow moving and obsolete inventories and collaborate with the Commercial Team to develop disposition plans.
  • Coordinate Disposal Authorizations to support the disposition of obsolete finished goods.
  • Identify and implement supply chain initiatives to improve efficiencies, cost, waste reduction and other lean principles.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years of planning, scheduling, and capacity and inventory management experience in a complex manufacturing and cross-functional environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Must be adept at working in a metric driven organization, and possess excellent decision-making skills to drive for results.
  • Demonstrated success managing a complex supply chain through the ability to create planning schedules around complex demands, timelines and constraints.
  • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work across multiple functions of the business.
  • Experience working on the supply side of the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Knowledge and experience in MRP and ERP systems inventory control, materials requirements planning, item master, demand planning, and advanced supply chain planning and analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and knowledgeable in lean principles/methodologies.
