President – Bruce H Brechin, CPIM, CSCP

Originally from Glasgow in Scotland, Bruce started his career in Glasgow and over the intervening years he has also worked in France (Paris), England (near Portsmouth) and in Chandler, AZ, before moving to the Toledo area in December 2000 when he joined First Solar, a world-leading manufacturer of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels and provider of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems.

Prior to joining First Solar Bruce worked in several different industries and held management positions in Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing and Materials. He has held several roles within First Solar and is currently a member of the Global Supply Chain with responsibility for logistics for major projects.

Bruce has been a member of APICS since 2001 and a Toledo Board Member since 2001.

Since joining the board Bruce has served in the following positions:

  • VP Administration from March 2002 to June 2005
  • President July 2005 to June 2008
  • Chair July 2008 to June 2009
  • President July 2009 to June 2015
  • Chair July 2015 to June 2016

He has been a member of the APICS Mid Atlantic District team since November 2011 and has presented at a number of MAD meetings.

Bruce achieved his CPIM certification in June 2005 and CSCP certification in March 2006 and has maintained both certifications.

In October 2007 at the APICS International Conference in Denver, Colorado, Bruce and the late Mike Wheatley, CPIM, (then APICS Toledo Chairman of the Board) were jointly awarded the 2007 APICS Student Chapter Mentor Award for their support of, and commitment to, the APICS student chapters at Bowling Green State University and The University of Toledo.

In September 2013 at the APICS International Conference in Orlando, Florida, Bruce was the recipient of the 2013 APICS Voluntary Service Award. The Voluntary Service Award recognizes superior leadership and exceptional contributions and commitment to the APICS vision and mission, Bruce was selected to receive this award in recognition of his continuous years of dedication, his steadfast commitment to the local and global APICS community and his contributions to the Toledo chapter and the student chapters.
